The Beach Guide To San Diego
San Diego has over 70 miles of beautiful beach to explore and enjoy, I have picked out my 5 favourite beaches to recommend to you
La Jolla Beaches
Pronounced 'La-hoi-ah' this stretch of coast is visited by almost as many people as sea lions. featuring the beauty rocky cliff faces of La Jolla cove, this destination is a must see for any stay in San Diego. Featuring several beaches with a variety of surf conditions there is plenty to do before retiring to the amazing local restaurants nearby.Windansea-
Small rocky beach, advanced surf, lifeguards on dutyLa Jolla Cove-
Intermediate Surf, Children's pool with seals
La Jolla shores-
Beginner Surf, soft sandy beach
Blacks Beach-
Known far and wide by the free spirited people of San Diego, this secluded clothing optional beach features, soft sand, and waves great for surfing. Beneath the bluffs of Torrey pines, it is officially part of Torrey pines state park and the first nudist beach in the country. The surf to the beach is funnelled in by a submarine canyon, making it good for surfing but dangerous for any inexperienced swimmers.
I would recommend staying close to shore if you decide to take a dip. Look out for the dolphins that are known to ride the waves!
Mission Beach
The beach also offers areas for cookouts and bonfires at night using one of the cities fire pits. For a perfect bonfire night, head over to fiesta island in Mission Bay and set up camp on the south side near stony point for a great view of sea world's firework show at 9:45pm
Ocean Beach This small Beach community is the most laid back of them all. Known for its small independent family run businesses and restaurants the local culture is both unique and charming! take a tour of the rock pools, or explore the community art murals for a breath of local culture.
Why not walk down to the bottom of the OB pier for lunch at the ocean beach pier cafe?
Lobster tacos and a cup of coffee on top of the waves!
